Heat Transfer Equipment for Process, Sanitary and Farm Duty

This site covers the Mueller heat transfer range and the duties it is built for. Paul Mueller Company has designed and built stainless steel processing equipment since 1940, for the food, dairy, beverage, chemical, biofuel, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and pure water industries. The heat transfer side of that line is what these pages are about: gasketed plate and frame, Temp-Plate embossed panel, falling film chilling, dairy farm milk cooling and brazed plate.

Two Ways to Move Heat

Almost every duty resolves into one of two arrangements. Where both fluids can be pumped, a plate pack gives true counterflow, approach temperatures of a degree or two, and a fifth to a half of the floor space a conventional exchanger of the same duty would occupy - and it opens for inspection rather than being flushed and hoped over.

Where one side sits still - in a tank, a kettle, a drum, a reactor - there is nothing to pump through an exchanger. Temp-Plate solves that by putting the heat transfer surface where the fluid already is: immersed in the vessel, clamped to the outside of it, or welded into the part itself.

Sales, Engineering and Service

Selection is the part that matters. A plate pack sized without an honest fouling allowance meets its duty on commissioning day and disappoints in a season; one sized with too generous an allowance runs at low velocity and fouls faster than it otherwise would. Send the duty rather than a model number and we will work through it.

We also carry replacement plates, gaskets and frame hardware, and handle regasketing, cleaning, pack expansion and leak testing on units already installed. Bring the nameplate and we can usually identify the pack from it.
