A phone call is usually quicker than a form. Tell us what the unit has to do and we will tell you what it takes to do it.

Sizing something new. Name both fluids and their condition — glycol percentage, solids content, sanitary or not — then give us flow, inlet temperature and required outlet temperature on each side. Add the pressure drop each side can spare. That last figure is the one most often left out, and the one that most often decides whether a unit that meets the duty on paper will meet it in your pipework.

Matching an existing unit. Photograph the nameplate. Failing that, count the plates, measure the frame between the head and the follower, note the port sizes and the connection orientation, and tell us what the gaskets look and feel like. A plate pattern and a gasket profile are identifiable from good photographs, including on units built by someone else.

Service and spares. For parts, start with replacement plates, gaskets and frames and hardware. For cleaning, testing and regasketing, see plate exchanger service. If you are not sure which construction you have, plate and frame is the place to start.

What Happens After You Call

Straightforward duties are usually answered the same day with a model, a plate count and a price. Where the duty needs a run through the selection software — a tight approach, a fouling service, a two-stage arrangement — we will say so and give you a time.

Where a figure is missing we name it and say what hangs on it, instead of assuming a value and quoting around the gap.

Emergencies

A leaking pack in the middle of a production run is a different conversation from a project enquiry. Say so at the start of the call.

Have the nameplate, the plate count and a photograph of the leak path ready if you can. Gaskets and plates for common Mueller models move quickly; the delay is almost always in identifying the unit, not in supplying the part.
