Chilling Without an Integral Sump

A tankless falling film chiller keeps the enclosed cabinet and the Temp-Plate evaporator plates but omits the collection tank. Chilled water leaves the unit directly into an existing sump, storage tank or process loop.

When it makes sense. Where a chilled water tank already exists, where the process itself provides the buffer volume, or where floor space is tight enough that the tank is the binding constraint on installation.

What you have to provide. Buffer volume somewhere. The refrigeration system needs thermal mass to avoid short cycling, and without an integral tank that mass has to come from the storage or the process loop. Say what you have and the control arrangement is designed around it.

Available in both plate formats. Tankless configurations are offered with 3x5 and 4x8 evaporators, so the capacity range is the same as the tanked units.

Thermal Mass Is the Design Question

Refrigeration systems need somewhere to put capacity when demand drops, or they short cycle and wear. An integral tank provides that; without one, the storage or the process loop must.

Tell us the volume and temperature of what the chiller discharges into, and the control arrangement follows. This is the item most often overlooked when a tankless unit is specified purely on footprint.
