Replacing Another Brand

Replacing a competitor's plate exchanger does not have to mean new concrete and new pipework. Custom frames can be built to land where the old one sat.

Replacing Another Brand

Drop-In Frame Replacement

Where an existing plate exchanger is beyond economic repair, a Mueller unit can frequently be built to occupy the same footprint and connect to the same pipework.

What that saves. Foundation work, piping modification and the downtime that goes with both. On a live plant that is usually a larger cost than the exchanger itself.

What we need. The existing footprint and mounting arrangement, connection sizes and locations, the duty, and photographs. The old unit's nameplate helps if it is still legible.

Improve while you are there. Replacement is the natural moment to correct a material that was marginal, add expansion room the original lacked, or change a connection arrangement that never suited the pipework.

Common FAQs

Frequently yes. Custom frames are built to land on existing foundations and pipe runs, which eliminates concrete and piping modifications. Send the footprint and connection details and we will confirm.

Not necessarily. Re-rating against what the process actually does now often reveals that the original was oversized, undersized or built in the wrong material. Replacement is the moment to fix that.

Field measurements will do. Footprint, mounting centres, connection sizes and locations, and photographs are usually enough to design a replacement that fits.
