Note: the unit pictured is representative of the standard build and may not exactly depict p/n LB31-30 as shown on this page.
LB31-30 is a Mueller brazed plate heat exchanger from the L-Line, a vacuum-brazed stainless assembly with no gaskets, frame, or tie bolts. Herringbone-embossed 316L stainless plates are stacked and brazed at every contact point, which is what lets a package this small carry 435 PSI of working pressure - the braze joints carry the load that a gasketed frame would otherwise need bolts and a head to resist. Overall dimensions are 11.3" by 4.8" with port centers at 9.1" and 2.7", and connections are 1". This configuration carries 30 plates. Maximum flow is 50 GPM. Copper braze is standard; nickel and stainless braze are available where copper ions are unacceptable, which is the usual specification for ammonia service and for potable and sanitary duty. Temperature range is -320°F to 446°F on the standard copper-brazed build (US-market literature lists -150°F to 445°F). Typical applications are domestic hot water generation, radiant floor and snow melt heat exchange, hydraulic and lube oil cooling, chiller barrels, refrigerant evaporators and condensers, subcoolers, and brewery wort chilling.
